  1. Right now my game is crashing randomly -- the Decor/Misc section had been crashing for a WHILE, but I finally found the culprit pieces and got rid of them. Now, though, the gameplay (and build/buy mode too, for that matter) seems to be a little jerky and unstable, like it could crash at any minute. When it DOES crash, it freezes and I have to ctrl+alt+del out of it and End Task.

Weird...I normally don't have too many issues like this with the game...o_O

  3. Oh man! I misread your post -- no no, not experiencing any computer problems at all, just the game. I wonder how the mods could be messing up the PC, though? Have you scanned them for viruses? Most of the mods I can think of are pretty safe, and your new computer has excellent specs....grrr, wish I could take a look at it :( (heh, like I'm some frikkin expert from Geek Squad or something...*eyeroll*)

  4. yeah i always have virus programs running and i avoid tsr and never click on ads and whatnot.
i dont know if that IS what caused my pc to break, but my bf suggested that it was something i was doing cause his pc never broke. and pretty much all i do is sim (and the occasional mmorpg)

  5. Are you reffering to overheating? Is that how your last PC died? If so, it is the game. The Sims 3 has no V-Sync, which means it will happily overwork your computer(Specifically graphics card) at unnecasary load. Eventually it'll cause your graphics card to overheat(I experianced the very same issue, it's widely known), the only fix I know of is to download a third party fps limiter. There's a great one on MATY called '3booter'. I'd reccomend that. Of course, this may not be what you're experiancing. The general symptoms is the computer completing crashing and having to restart, as well as high temperatures and fans running incrdibly loud. Particuarally when playing Sims 3.

This could be what you're experiancing. For if you do have a high spec computer(With a good graphics card) chances are, you will experiance this.

Here's the link to 3booter if you're interested, I'd reccomend you give it a try. It's simple enough to add and remove.

The overheating issue is highlighted in the second post.

  8. Not for 3booter. 3booter works with every graphics card/make as far as I know.

This issue affects all high end graphics cards, no matter of make I believe. Though I'm no expert on the subject, I just know that 3booter stops the game from damaging high/medium spec pc's. :)

  10. Noooo, you definitely don't -- we've been suspecting that Sims burned up our last graphics card, a VERY good GeForce 8800GTS that I'd had for 3 years with no problems whatsoever. I didn't know about the overheating issue with TS3 and fps rates until it was too late. All of a sudden I turn on the PC one day and BOOM! Screwed up graphics all over the place (not just in Sims, but Windows, internet, everything).

I'm not 100% certain, but I (and a few others) feel fairly confident that TS3 had at least SOMETHING to do with it if not everything. Sucked too -- we had no choice but to buy a new card (which I was going to do anyway, but not so soon). So yeah, definitely try out the FPS Limiter. I won't play TS3 ever again without it, I'll tell you that much. xD
