its about time some progress was made

GENEVA (AP) — The United Nations endorsed the rights of gay, lesbian and transgender people for the first time ever Friday, passing a resolution hailed as historic by the U.S. and other backers and decried by some African and Muslim countries.
The declaration was cautiously worded, expressing "grave concern" about abuses because of sexual orientation and commissioning a global report on discrimination against gays.
But activists called it an important shift on an issue that has divided the global body for decades, and they credited the Obama administration's push for gay rights at home and abroad.
"This represents a historic moment to highlight the human rights abuses and violations that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people face around the world based solely on who they are and whom they love," U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said in a statement.
Following tense negotiations, members of the Geneva-based U.N. Human Rights Council narrowly voted in favor of the declaration put forward by South Africa, with 23 votes in favor and 19 against.
Backers included the U.S., the European Union, Brazil and other Latin American countries. Those against included Russia, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria and Pakistan. China, Burkina Faso and Zambia abstained, Kyrgyzstan didn't vote and Libya was suspended from the rights body earlier.
The resolution expressed "grave concern at acts of violence and discrimination, in all regions of the world, committed against individuals because of their sexual orientation and gender identity."
More important, activists said, it also established a formal U.N. process to document human rights abuses against gays, including discriminatory laws and acts of violence. According to Amnesty International, consensual same-sex relations are illegal in 76 countries worldwide, while harassment and discrimination are common in many more.
"Today's resolution breaks the silence that has been maintained for far too long," said John Fisher of the gay rights advocacy group ARC International.
The White House in a statement strongly backed the declaration.
"This marks a significant milestone in the long struggle for equality, and the beginning of a universal recognition that (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) persons are endowed with the same inalienable rights — and entitled to the same protections — as all human beings."
The resolution calls for a panel discussion next spring with "constructive, informed and transparent dialogue on the issue of discriminatory laws and practices and acts of violence against" gays, lesbians and transgender people.
The prospect of having their laws scrutinized in this way went too far for many of the council's 47-member states.
"We are seriously concerned at the attempt to introduce to the United Nations some notions that have no legal foundation," said Zamir Akram, Pakistan's envoy to the U.N. in Geneva, speaking on behalf of the Organization of the Islamic Conference.
Nigeria claimed the proposal went against the wishes of most Africans. A diplomat from the northwest African state of Mauritania called the resolution "an attempt to replace the natural rights of a human being with an unnatural right."
Boris Dittrich of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights program at Human Rights Watch said it was important for the U.S. and Western Europe to persuade South Africa to take the lead on the resolution so that other non-Western countries would be less able to claim the West was imposing its values.
At the same time, he noted that the U.N. has no enforcement mechanism to back up the resolution. "It's up to civil society to name and shame those governments that continue abuses," Dittrich said.
The Obama administration has been pushing for gay rights both domestically and internationally.
In March, the U.S. issued a nonbinding declaration in favor of gay rights that gained the support of more than 80 countries at the U.N. In addition, Congress recently repealed the ban on gays openly serving in the military, and the Obama administration said it would no longer defend the constitutionality of the U.S. law that bars federal recognition of same-sex marriage.
The vote in Geneva came at a momentous time for the gay rights debate in the U.S. Activists across the political spectrum were on edge Friday as New York legislators considered a bill that would make the state the sixth — and by far the biggest — to allow same-sex marriage.
Asked what good the U.N. resolution would do for gays and lesbians in countries that opposed the resolution, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary Daniel Baer said it was a signal "that there are many people in the international community who stand with them and who support them, and that change will come."
"It's a historic method of tyranny to make you feel that you are alone," he said. "One of the things that this resolution does for people everywhere, particularly LGBT people everywhere, is remind them that they are not alone."
Associated Press writer David Crary in New York contributed to this report.

Bad Zeri

Vampire Zeri had just moved into her new home from the trailer park. She was moving up in her cop career toward forensics, and all was going well. But she was a bit bored.

She went to the club one night and had some questionable drinks. Before you know it, she was in a mood and chatting up everybody. she met 2 men that night. one guy named Yuri, and another guy named somthing i can remember. lets just call him Chad. She got extremely friendly with Chad and invited him home. They hit it off rather well only to discover that Chad was married. 'No problem' He said, and immediately left his wife. But he had the evil trait, and Zeri's good trait keep clashing with him. so not much else happened that night.

The next night she went out with Yuri, under the pretense of 'questioning' him.He was a very handsome man and they seems to hit it off rather well... only one big problem tho...

he was ALSO married.. to this hideous thing. Zeri felt she may actualy be doing him a favor by seducing him.

so Zeri took him home and made him hers.. literaly! After he agreed to leave his wife, she bit him... making him Riverview's only other vampire. and assuring that hell definitely be around, and only for her. She suddenly had the naughty girl reputation.. oops

then she went to China to lean some martial arts for her upcoming promotion. the wooden dummy thing kicked her ass pretty bad.

But she managed to learn a thing or two, and had a great trip. (had to see if WA still worked)

when she got home, she realised she was still an item with Chad.. and it would probalby not be a good idea to continue to string him along.  she she took him out to a public place to confess her cheating. He didnt take it well.

Zeri reminded him, that you do NOT pick a fight with a vampire. especially one who recently learned sim fu. She tried apologizing to him several times, and still he continued to attack her. she she just declared him a nemesis, and kicked his ass one last time for good measure.

on her way out, she ran into Yuri's ex wife and daughter... awkward....

That night her house was robbed! good thing she was a cop, she called up her buddies and they raced right over there. that burglar didnt get far...

a few days later Yuri calls to say sometimes wierd has happened to him. yep hes finaly a full fledged vamp!

Zeri asked him to go steady and they spent the night togewther in vamp bliss.... but what a naughty girl Zeri has been....bad Zeri

well.... what a big freekin surprise

even tho everything is freshly updated, the launcher is still unreliable. i uploaded a sim, went to my page just fine. uploaded a house, and nada. it says it uploaded, but nothing appears on my page. great... so once again i have to show my house HERE if i want anyone to ever download it at all... -_-

i did some landscaping on this lot to my personal specifications. i plan on putting my sim self in this house. this is the rear of the house. you can see the large deck overlooking the pond and the 2 story windows all along the great room. its a 2 story room with an open loft type thing.

this is the front. a 2 car garage with room in the back for washing machines or exercise equipment.

just a quick look at the loft/second floor. here you see the dining area and kitchen on the lower level, and a bedroom and stair case to the master bedroom on the second floor

this is the ground floor layout. from bottom left we have the garage leading up to a hallway and small bathroom. then you have the kitchen area and a dining room on a raised platform. in the middle is the great room with a grand fireplace, and large windows overlooking the wilderness outside. to the right we have a large bedroom/study/nursery and a hallway leading to a master bathroom. at the back of the house is a large and oddly shaped deck (yes it was like that in the floorplan)

most of the house and window tho, should be EA stock. Enjoy!

Download Me

well those are the only pics i took of it, but if you think its nice give it a download! :)
it is empty to keep the file size small, and it has very little CC. some custom windows and doors but not much else. unfortunately i dont remember where some of these things came from, so you will just have to use other doors/windows if they dont come with it.

if your American, pass it on

i dont have a contact list to forward this too. but im sure somebody out there does.

The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government - lest it come to dominate our lives and interests€- Patrick Henry -

I have totally cleaned this e-mail from all other names, sending it to you in hopes you will keep it going and keep it clean. This is something I will fight for and I hope you all read it all the way through. You will be glad you did.
The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971...before computers, before e-mail, before cell phones, etc.
Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land....all because of public pressure.
I'm asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.
In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.
Congressional Reform Act of 2011
1. No Tenure / No Pension.
A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.
2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.
3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.
4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.
6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.
7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12.
The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.
If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S. ) to receive the message. Maybe it is time.
If you agree with the above, pass it on. If not, just delete.
You are one of my 30+. Please keep it going.

maybe its time for a change

with generations coming, and lots of new interactions and adventures to be had, i have been wondering if maybe my long standing legacy family, the Ovevil's, should be retired.
they have acquired more or less all of the hidden traits, which was my ultimate goal. (im missing only pizza appreciator i think, and the WA ones) and now both my heiress and her father, are vampires (and still YA) so it makes it a tad difficult to run a generational family who lives for centuries. not only that, its getting harder and harder to come up with names that go with 'of evil'. i think ive used most of the good ones already (some more than once)

ive been using the Ovevil family name since sims 1.. and im pretty attached to them. but i think maybe its time to let them go to story progression and start over with a new 'of evil' family. one whos name is alot easier to deal with.

im thinking maybe Bane, (Bayne) or Niteshayd, (Nightshade). havent decided yet. i might even put them in the same town the Ovevil's are in, and let them intermarry. so id still be continuing my family line, but under a different surname. i dunno.. still deciding. so those names sound dark and gothy enough? i want my new family to be more less the same as my old family.. just with a better name and less vampires lol  (i still love vampires, they just suck for family continuiity)
