not much of my family left now

i got a phone call yesterday from my stepmother. my father passed away. last time i talked to him, he said his cancer was n remission, was pretty much completely gone. and then i hear this news.. its somewhat shocking to say the least..
obviously i was very upset, but now im just kinda numb i guess. so many deaths in my family recently.. first my little brother, then my great uncle (who was old as fuck so it wasnt a shock) my aunt Marie died of pneumonia just about a month ago and now my dad. my dad and my little brother were more or less all i had growing up. now i have nothing. well i hate my bile spitting cobra of a mother..who was OH so sympathetic.. then ;ast night we had a minor tornado (which i am freekin terrified of) and it knocked out the internet and tore down half of the tree out back.. completely destroying our back deck AND the porch swing my dad gave me..
*sigh*.....

  2. I'm so sorry to hear that, Zeri.  I hope the shit storm you are in passes soon and gives you a well deserved respite.  I lost my father long ago and all we have left are the memories.  Take comfort in the fact that you will always have those  In times like these words are not enough, but what little they can do to help, I offer them to you.

    Cheers.

  10. I'm sorry to hear about what's happened to you. My mother died when I was 6 and my oldest cat (whom I had known literally my whole life) died when I was 14, so I know what it's like to lose family members. Just try to be optimistic. I hope that things in your life will improve soon. :-)

  13. Zeri, I am so sorry to hear of what you've been going through. I can't imagine how trying it must be for you right now. Keep your head up, and do the best you can to get through it. That's all we really can do. Best wishes to you and yours during this time.

  14. thank you so much everyone. your words really do mean alot. i think im doing ok atm.. just cruising by on shock. trying not to think too much about it. but i guess.. you cant really avoid it forever you know.. things seem to get worse when i talk about it. thats when i get upset. but at the same time i feel like i SHOULD talk about it. i kept saying 'one day ill save up enough money to go down to florida and visit'. but i guess that day wont come now. and my 2 youngest kids never really got to know him.
i had a really hard childhood and me and my dad didnt always see eye to eye. my life was more or less a living hell for a long time. but he was my daddy.. and i loved him. still do.. im dlag we had time to reconcile our differences in recent years. ill miss you always <3

  15. Oh no Zeri, I'm so sorry to hear about your father's passing.  That's one of the toughest things in the world, losing a parent.  You have a lifetime of memories of him to pass on to your kids - some of the family stories I've heard of my relatives are so vivid that it almost feels like I'd been there to meet them.

I lost my dad years ago and it was devastating, and like you I only have a few people left in my family.  It's hard....but in some way, shape, or form I know they're out there, be it Heaven or a spirit or energy cruising through the universe.

You'll be in my thoughts, Zer *hugs*  Take good care of yourself, give your kids big hugs and kisses and stay well.  If you need anything, don't hesitate to write me, please.

  17. That's the way I am with my mom. I can't stand my dad, but I'd do anything for my mom. I think you should talk about it, it will make you upset, but it's a way of coping. You'll likely go through those stages of grieving, but in the end, you'll be okay. Although, if it does hurt too much, then you don't have to talk. Just do what you feel is best.

  19. I'm so sorry Zeri! It's tough, but so are you! Now I really feel bad about stealing your points! If there is ever anything to buy over at the crazy house, I will be sure to get you something. Is it still a gift if I buy it with your points that I stole from you? If it will make you feel better you can demote me to Dum Dum :)
